3. How We Use Permissions

The Extension requests specific Chrome permissions to function correctly. Here is exactly why they are needed:

  • storage: Used to save your preferences and locally cache currency rates to reduce network overhead.
  • alarms: Used to schedule periodic background updates for USD exchange rates so that the extension displays fresh data when opened.
  • notifications: Used to alert you of important rate changes or updates.
  • contextMenus: Used to add convenient shortcuts to your Chrome right-click menu.
  • gcm (Google Cloud Messaging) & FCM Host Permissions: Used strictly to receive real-time push notifications of exchange rate updates directly from Firebase Cloud Messaging. No personal identifier is sent or associated with these push registrations.

4. Third-Party Services

To provide live exchange rates, the Extension fetches data directly from bank APIs and official sources.

  • These network requests are direct and do not pass through any intermediary servers owned by us.
  • While the Extension itself does not collect data, standard connection details (like your IP address) may be visible to the bank servers or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) endpoints when fetching data or registering for push notifications. This is a technical necessity for any internet-connected tool.
  • We do not use any third-party analytics, trackers, or advertising SDKs.

5. Children's Privacy

Because the Extension does not collect any personal information, it is safe for users of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly solicit or collect data from children under 13.
